George Washington JOHN(S), b. 16 June 1823, Ohio (location unknown); md. Mary Ann SMITH 14 Jan 1846 in Franklin Co., Indiana.  (Mary Ann b. 14 Oct. 1826, Butler Co., Ohio).  They had the following children:
1.   Robert Minor John, b. 1848, Union Co., IN; md. Nancy A. Berry
2.   Robert A. John, b. 1850, prob. Union Co., IN; no other info
3.    Phoebe, b. Mar 1850, d. 5 Mar 1912, Union Co., md. WillIam T. Smith
4.   James, b. 1852 (date suspect) Ohio (per 1850 census – he may be a nephew rather than son)
5.   Catherine, b. 1855, Union Co., IN; d. June 1922; md. John Ryan
6.   Isabell b. June 1855 (believe she & Catherine/Kate were twins); d. 28 Feb 1936, Union Co.; md. James Lunsford
7.   Lorenda, b. 1859 prob Union Co.; died after 1936 in prob. Clay City, KS; md. Unknown Slade
8.   Emma R. b. Apr 1862, Union Co., d. 9 May 1924, md. Ennis Veal
9.   Orrel Mary b. 26 Sept 1864, Union Co.; d. 20 May 1930, Goodwins Corner, Union, IN; md. Finley Lattimore Sharp 19 Apr 1888. (my great-grandmother)

I believe Mary Ann Smith to be the daughter of Catherine Smith, who was living with George & Mary Ann at 1860 census, age 71, born PA.  In the 1870 census Catherine was living next door with George’s son Robert M. & wife Nancy.  My roadblock is the parents of George W. – according to his death record, his mother’s name was Elizabeth, born in Ohio per the 1900 census.  Any chance you may have run across this line?  I have a lot of early JOHN research info but so far can’t connect back…any help appreciated!
