I'm just starting looking into the history of my family. My grandmother Carrie Edith Foltz Anderson was born in Damascus (township?), Henry Co, OH in 1903. Her mother was Mary A. Mason and her father was David Foltz Jr. Any information you can share about these families will be appreciated. Also if you can direct me to any useful free genealogy sites I'd appreciate that. I'd like to exhaust my free options before using a fee service. Thank You!

Looking for the parents of Martha Brickell who was born circa 1816 in VA. She married William J. Matchett in Niles, Berrien Co., MI in 1842. It has been suggested to me that she is the daughter of Edward J. and Mary (Jones) Brickell, who married 1805 in Mecklenburg Co., NC and were in Ohio by 1830. I've been unable to find any information on them, let alone disprove/prove whether they're my Martha's parents or not. Anyone out there have any information or suggestions for me?

good luck. there are over 80 counties in OHIO.   But I'd also check the probate courts as well.

The county probate court records marriages in each county.  Bear in mind that during the early part of the 19th century, new counties were being added quite regularly.  You must check with the probate court of the county that existed at the time of the marriage.
