1  Ohio Queries / General Queries / Re: William H. Schults on: August 31, 2008, 07:07:41 PM
Hey, Della!

Is there a big age gap between William and his wife, with which he had a son?  Sometime, yes, there has been a previous marriage if the wife is much younger than the husband.  What really helped me in that regard are the census records; ancestry.com has the free 14 day trial right now (or maybe they do all of the time) if you haven't that.  Sometimes you can find the head of a family did have a previous marriage that way.

I hope this helps.

Hey, Jean!

Concerning your Henderson family, there are actually a couple of options.  I think the first one I would try would be the Washington County Historical Society, here is their website address:
You could contact them by letter and tell they who and what you are looking for.

The second option would be to contact the National Archives, that website address is:
I have gotten my soldiers' Civil War records (most Confederate) from them--they will send you copies of their enlistment cards, and their pay receipts as well.  You will have to fill out a form and there is a fee involved but you will be very pleased with what they will send you.

As far as finding places of burial, if the historical society does not have that information, you can call the library in that area, I have found one my Union soldier's place of burial that way right over the phone.

I hoped this helped you.  I don't why the links addresses did not work, where you could go from here to those right away...sorry.  I hope you find what you are looking for, please let us know!

Have a great evening and God bless,

3  Ohio Queries / General Queries / MADDEN / CASEY on: August 31, 2008, 02:40:08 PM
Looking for information on the family of Christopher MADDEN, and Katherine BRANNON.  Resided in Mansfield, Richland Co, OH from atleast 1865-1898.  Chris b. Ireland c1830, and Katherine b. Ireland c1840, no marriage record found; had 2 sons: John Patrick MADDEN b. Richland Co, c1865 and William MADDEN b. Richland Co, c1867. No death records found on Katherine; Chris d. Aug 1898, and was employed by Erie Railroad Com. 'til death.  Any assistance is appreciated.

I have since posting this query, learned that the maiden name of Katherine was not Brannon, but rather CASEY.  Sometimes in looking at old records, we find the informant makes mistakes!!!   MADDEN / CASEYThank you!
